How To Keep Track Of Kids on Camping Trips

Be Sure To Pack a First Aid Kit & Some Medicines

Summer will soon be here and before you finalize your plans here are some tips to help you better enjoy with camping or holiday trip with your children.  When you’re making preparations for a holiday with your children, you’re probably also feeling a bit worried about the possible problems that might arise. You should, of course, pack some medicines that you think they might need, as well as a first aid kit. But there might be more to worry about. Think of the first scenes from Home Alone...It is, of course, unlikely that you might leave your children at home and drive to the airport without them.

Educate Children About The Dangers of Straying and Wandering Off

However, if you’re going on a camping holiday, knowing where your children are at all times can be quite challenging. The smaller they are, they more energy they have. They can be absorbed in their curious exploration and stray too far from your tent or trailer.

Establish Safety Rules

There are two main things you can do to avoid such trouble. First of all, you should have a talk with your children before you leave home. In fact, you should discuss the rules with them long before you start your holiday, and repeat it once or twice. If you only talk to them about it on the day you leave, they will probably be too excited about the holiday to be able to concentrate on what you’re saying. Make sure they understand that they should not venture too far from you. If they’re not old enough to understand this, there’s not much you can do except keep a constant eye on them during the holiday.

Make Sure Children Wear Whistles Around Their Necks

The other thing you should do is to have your children wear whistles around their neck. Chances are they will even find it fun. You should agree on a communication code. For instance, a certain number of whistles may mean they need help. Make the code as original as you can without complicating it, to avoid
confusions in case there might be several families with children on the camping site.

Once you’ve established the safety rules, all you need is good weather and a list of songs to make the trip more fun.
